Marking a new era in the 134-year history of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Andris Nelsons makes highly anticipated debut as the new BSO music director at Symphony Hall in Boston on September 27, 2014.

Heralded as one of the finest trombone players of his generation, Toby Oft brings a brilliant brass voice to the Boston Symphony as the orchestra’s Principal Trombone. Since 2008, Mr. Oft has seen a diverse repertoire of BSO performances while working under the batons of James Levine, Christoph Eschenbach, Christoph von Dohnányi, Bernard Haitink, and the orchestra’s newly appointed Music Director Andris Nelsons. Toby Oft lives in Jamaica Plain with his wife Andrea and twins Colin and Luci, where he enjoys cycling, running, and roasting his own coffee beans.
Somehow, Toby also finds time to blog! The trombonist recently wrote a wonderful first-hand account of the week leading up to Andris Nelsons’ debut performance at Symphony Hall.
